My main media when it comes to Art production is in the drawing field but over the last few years I have expanded my field to include 3D rendering.
My main theme/topic is in the Fan Art spectrum so I draw what I like, what I'm attracted to and in whatever form I want!
I went through a very long phase of monochromatic drawings as I never really trusted myself with colouring as I could never get the same shading effect that I wanted (turns out I just needed to change my coloured pencils!)
I tend to go through spells where I draw a few pictures in quick succession then have a long period without drawing - I usually attribute this fact to a lack of good source material and also due to the way that I draw my images I suffer muscular and joint pains (I sit on my studio floor as I cant draw sitting on a seat or standing up - I think that comes from when I was very young) so I can't produce works too often as I can hardly stand up after a session!
I'm happy in where I am with my art, its the freedom that I love, the freedom to choose a picture and the freedom to take however long I want to produce works - this is the reason why I dont do it as a career...I've found that if I HAVE to produce a particular piece I suffer severe artists block.
So, my main advice for budding new artists is simple: Draw what YOU want, how YOU want, why YOU want and never EVER listen to critics if all they want to do is trash talk your passion.
